There have remarkable advances in the last 100 years in regards to the field of medicine. The most notable advances have included immunizations, access to clean water and the use of antibiotics. For surgeons, progress in computer assisted technology have taken surgery to a new level. In the next few weeks, I will write about specific aspects of surgery that have made it safer, less morbid and less painful...the essence of minimally invasive surgery. The topics will include:
- Cancer outcomes
- Functional outcomes (continence, sexual function)
- Surgical pain
- Complications
- New directions in minimally invasive surgery
We hope you tune in!
